Karina Gasbarrino has 8 years of basic and clinical research training in cardiovascular medicine. After obtaining her doctorate degree in Experimental Medicine at McGill University in 2019, she took the leap into the world of entrepreneurship and co-founded a med-tech start-up called PLAKK Inc. As Chief Operations Officer she combines her passion for the cardiovascular sciences with artificial intelligence to develop a computer-aided diagnostic tool that will improve the prediction and prevention of strokes. She is recipient of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Scholarship from the City of Montréal, and more recently has been awarded the Mitacs Social Entrepreneur Award.
